We opened the Los Angeles Times this morning to find our client, the La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum, on the front page! The interesting article written by Julia Rosen tells the story of the many volunteers that work on the excavation projects at the La Brea Tar Pits. We are proud to see their awesome story being told.

Another MR client is open and providing guests with an engaging and informative experience. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights (NCCHR) opened on June 23rd right in the heart of downtown Atlanta, adjacent to the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium, which are also MR clients! This 43,000 square foot attraction connects the American Civil Rights Movement to today’s Global Human Rights Movements. We are proud to have assisted NCCHR with their business and operational planning and are excited for them to fulfill their mission of “Empowering people to take the protection of every human’s rights personally.”

Please visit NCCHR’s website to learn more.

We're proud that our very own, Ken Wagener, together with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County's Mary Baerg and the Exploratorium's Mike Brown, had a successful panel presentation at this year's AAM Museum Expo in Seattle! The topic of increasing earned revenues and cutting costs using data was well received and we hope attendees are back at home, utilizing their own data to positively impact their bottom line.

We, as is the entire nation, are so proud of the opening of The National September 11 Memorial & Museum.  We send our heartfelt congratulations to the many teams that have made this moment possible!

Management Resources continues to be  deeply involved with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum from its earliest stages of design planning in 2004 to the opening of the above-ground reflecting pools and Memorial Plaza in 2011 and now the opening of the Museum.   MR’s work has touched on every aspect of operations of this national landmark; from throughput and capacity evaluation, staffing projections, operational planning and budgeting for revenues and expenses, ticketing strategies and access control systems procurement.

The museum is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the tragedies at the World Trade Center site, the Shanksville, Pennsylvania site, and at the Pentagon, as well as the people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993. The Museum’s 110,000 square feet of exhibition space is located below ground in the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center site—telling the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks will be commemorated as visitors have the opportunity to learn about the men, women, and children who died.

Jim Higashi has had a very busy week, speaking at the California Association of Museums (CAM) 2014 Conference in Napa and the 2014 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Leadership Conference in San Francisco! We’re proud that Jim was asked to join panels that provide insights into unique projects. It was also a great opportunity to catch up and connect with industry leaders.

Jim presented at the CAM Conference Director’s Dinner, an event that featured lessons learned from Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts, a center in downtown Napa that opened in 2001 and closed seven years later. At the IAAPA Leadership Conference, Jim presented with our client, The Exploratorium, sharing the success story of The Exploratorium’s move to their new building on Pier 15 and how they create an environment that meets their stated mission of changing the way the world learns.

We hope the sharing of the various panelist perspectives will prove valuable for all conference attendees.
